Job Summary
CONNECTICUT COLLEGE. The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a two-year non-tenure-track position in anthropology at the Visiting Assistant Professor level effective July 1 2026.
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in anthropology is preferred; ABD candidates will also be considered. We seek a colleague who can teach undergraduate courses in cultural and ethnographic anthropology and who is committed to applied engaged and experiential modes of learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of vibrant undergraduate teaching inclusive pedagogical practices and the ability to contribute meaningfully to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all students.
Given the departments existing strengths in archaeological anthropology and material culture studies we especially welcome applicants whose work bridges subfields. We value pedagogical innovation teacher-scholars who highlight the relevance of anthropology for understanding and addressing present-day social and/or environmental challenges and who will encourage students to delve deeply into research critical inquiry and public-facing scholarship.
Position Summary: This individual will be expected to teach undergraduate courses including 12 sections of an introductory course a theory course and two or more topical courses in their area of expertise. Teaching load will be 3/2. Evidence of teaching excellence and a commitment to the training and professional development of undergraduates are required.
