Job Summary

Base salary will be in the range $143099 - $% Superannuation (Academic Level C)

As Deputy Head of Learning Community (Year 2) you will play a key role in shaping and evolving an inclusive learning environment that fosters belonging collaboration and professional growth. Working closely with colleagues you will support medical students to flourish throughout the MD program contributing to a culture that values connection wellbeing and excellence in education.
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Provide academic leadership for Year 2 delivering high-quality teaching assessment student support (including advising remediation and progression oversight) and contributing to clinical education and staff development.
Maintain an active research profile applying best-practice methodologies and contributing to collaborative research that strengthens the Rural Clinical School and Regional Clinical Unit.
Lead supervision and researcher development by supporting student research engagement and effectively managing coaching and developing staff across the employee lifecycle.
Contribute to citizenship and service through active participation in governance fostering rural career pathways engaging with healthcare partners and supporting community and professional initiatives.

About You
Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia with a specialist or general practice qualification permitting specialist registration with AHPRA.
An established profile in clinical teaching.
Expert knowledge and experience in a general or specialist clinical capacity including evidence of knowledge of current education best practise.
Evidence of a substantial senior contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.
Experience in undertaking or facilitating research or scholarship of teaching and learning.
A record of contribution to the supervision of medical students
Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the UQRCS within hospitals and health care facilities at a university level and in the wider community including professional bodies
High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students colleagues and the wider community
A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding living and working in a rural and/or regional area
Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks which may include verification of the right to work in Australia qualifications professional registration (AHPRA) and mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
