WHO WE NEED

We are seeking a ROMKids Studio Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of ROMKids programming and camp delivery.

This role plays a key part in ensuring programs run smoothly by supporting operations supervising staff and volunteers managing materials and logistics and maintaining safe and organized learning environments. The Studio Assistant also serves as a key point of contact for caregivers and supports the coordination of staff scheduling supplies and administrative processes.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized proactive and experienced working with children in dynamic program environments.


HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Support daily program operations including supervision of routines such as arrival breaks lunch and transitions
  • Manage and monitor program budgets including sourcing purchasing and tracking supplies and materials
  • Maintain inventory and ensure all materials equipment and spaces are organized clean and ready for use
  • Oversee lab and gallery assignments and ensure ROMKids spaces meet cleanliness and operational standards
  • Ensure adherence to health safety and risk management protocols including proper use of materials and first aid procedures
  • Collect track and follow up on incident reports and support documentation processes
  • Supervise Lead Assistants Assistants and volunteers supporting team performance and daily operations
  • Act as a primary point of contact for caregivers responding to questions and addressing concerns professionally
  • Support administrative and logistical tasks including registration requests distribution of materials (e.g. t-shirts) and extended care programming

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Post-secondary education in education museum studies or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with children in a camp educational or program setting
  • Strong organizational and operational coordination skills
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff or volunteers in a program environment
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and child safety practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain)
  • Formal teaching qualifications are an asset
  • Experience or interest in areas such as arts storytelling environmental education media production or creative programming is an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and occasional overnight programs as required
  • Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening

SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • START DATE: May 2026
  • OPEN DATE: April 15 2026
  • CLOSE DATE: April 24 2026
  • STATUS: Part-time contract
  • EMPLOYEE GROUP: OPSEU Local 543
  • EXPECTED COMPENSATION: $28.09- $32.09 hourly
  • SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 420 hours or six (6) months
  • LOCATION (onsite): Toronto ON
