Job Summary
Our consumer product client is seeking a Cost Accountant to assist with the daily and monthly cost accounting operations. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Oversee the daily and monthly cost accounting operations and to ensure GAAP compliance and cost accounting procedures
- Manage all aspects of inventory including gross margin and product line analysis and related reserves; inventory reconciliation reserves and variance & COGS analysis
- Ensure standard costs and overhead/labor rates utilized are accurate
- Participate in the month-end close duties including journal entries inventory reserve & reconciliation variance analysis
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects as needed
The qualified Cost Accountant will possess:
- A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 3 years of experience in G/L accounting with solid exposure to cost accounting and/or inventory
- Solid Excel skills such as pivot tables and V-lookups
- Prior experience with Oracle is preferred but no required
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) organizational problem-solving and decision-making skills
