The role

We are looking for a Project and Program Management Coordinator to support our Automotive and Surface Transportation (AST) Research Centre. The Project and Program Management Coordinator would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity Excellence Respect and Creativity.

The coordinator is responsible for supporting project and program management activities by working closely with project managers R-D directors program managers and senior project managers and providing expertise on practices systems and tools in order to ensure projects are tracked and managed efficiently.

More specifically as the E-AUTO Program Coordinator the incumbent will oversee:

  • performance management (monitoring reporting and presenting);
  • ensure the integrity of operational practices systems tools and program data;
  • initiate schedule events maintain and close specific projects in the enterprise resource planning software SAP.

As part of the E-AUTO program team the individual will have the opportunity to help make Canadas automotive supply chain more competitive by reducing the risks associated with bringing new Canadian technologies for zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) to market.

Screening criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

College diploma with courses in project management or a field relevant to the position.


An equivalent combination of work-related experience formal training and education would also be considered.

Experience

  • Experience supporting project management in a research and development (R&D) environment including:
    • gathering information and updating project data;
    • maintaining project forms templates and tools;
    • producing project reports; and
    • preparing presentations.
  • Experience managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for programs.
  • Significant* experience using Microsoft tools including Excel Word PowerPoint and Power BI.
  • Experience in the implementation of best practices in regards to project and program management.
  • Experience providing advice and/or training to colleagues.
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities on a daily basis.

The following experience criteria would be considered as assets:

  • Experience using SAP Project Systems.

* Significant experience is defined as two (2) to six (6) years of experience.

Technical competencies

  • Strong knowledge of project and program management theory and practices.
  • Knowledge of operational and financial management within a large organization preferably within a Canadian federal government context.
  • Ability to read and interpret project and financial data.
  • Ability to give presentations and provide coaching and training to colleagues in various aspects of project and program management.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft tools including Excel Word PowerPoint and Power BI.

The following competencies would be considered as asset:

  • Knowledge of accounting financial and business principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of Treasury Board Financial Guidelines and the Financial Administration Act.
