Prioritizes and schedules projects and maintenance items in the Public Works Department
Coordinates and reviews the work of maintenance workers assigned to parks and cemetery grounds-keeping
Installs and maintains the irrigation systems throughout the parks cemetery and all other facilities of the City
Assists in the design installation and maintenance of municipal parks open spaces trails and cemetery
Performs landscaping and groundskeeping work as needed to maintain attractive environs
Prepares facilities for youth sports activities and other recreational programs/events
Oversees contractors work relating to parks improvements and repairs
Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment vehicles and tools
Monitors operations for compliance with safety standards
Assists staff in cemetery maintenance and the digging of graves
Provides recommendations for the purchasing of equipment and supplies for the department
Assists community members in organizing service projects in the city
Aids in the preparation of parks and cemetery budgets and helps monitor departments expenses
Assists with storm water snow removal utility repairs and road maintenance
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Serves as crew leader for parks staff. Coordinates with Recreation Supervisor to ensure parks and the cemetery are properly maintained and set up for public use. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring training and terminating employees; directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving problems.
Qualifications
4-5 years of relevant experience including 2-3 years of supervisory experience
Associate degree in related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Possession of or to be able to obtain a Non-commercial Pesticide Applicators license is desirable
Must have a current Utah Drivers License (Commercial Drivers License preferred)

Working conditions and physical demands that relate directly to the essential job duties and responsibilities to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. While performing these duties the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions toxic chemicals and fumes. The noise level in the environment is typically moderate to loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals to perform these essential functions.
