ABOUT THE TEAM

The Sand Table team at Anduril develops our revolutionary platform for visualizing future defense scenarios. We transform massive amounts of data into an intuitive interactive 3D command center serving as the visual interface for mission simulations a key business development tool and a powerful demonstration of our advanced capabilities to government and military leaders. We take ambitious ideas from concept to completion building the core with high-performance C and enabling rapid feature expansion through modern scripting and plugin frameworks. The Sand Table team manages the complex logistics for delivering flawless augmented reality demonstrations in headset to critical stakeholders. As a cross-functional group of builders strategists and operators we combine the creative energy of a top game studio with the rigorous discipline of national security to shape how the future of defense is visualized and understood.

WHAT YOULL DO

As the leader of the engineering team you will guide a group of talented engineers in building the window into our complex mission-critical systems.

• Lead and Mentor: Manage and grow a team of 5 software engineers fostering a culture of high performance technical excellence and collaboration. You will be responsible for the teams composition including hiring performance management and career development.
• Drive Technical Strategy: Partner with Product Management Design leadership and other key stakeholders to define the product vision. You will own the technical roadmap validating capabilities and mapping out timelines to turn ambitious concepts into reality.
• Solve Ambiguous Problems: Tackle complex non-well-defined problems at the intersection of real-time graphics data simulation and user interaction. You will spearhead the architecture and design of robust scalable solutions.
• Be a Hands-On Contributor: Remain deeply technical and lead by example. You are expected to contribute directly to the C codebase conduct rigorous code reviews and provide architectural guidance to solve our most challenging technical problems.
• Ensure System Excellence: Uphold and improve client stability by diagnosing and resolving defects. Drive the analysis and optimization of both memory and performance in systems that scale from high-end desktops to mobile AR platforms.
• Mitigate Technical Risk: Proactively identify technical risks and architect elegant solutions collaborating with broader engineering groups across Anduril to ensure our success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience managing and leading a team of 5 engineers with responsibility for hiring and performance management
• 10 years of professional programming experience with deep expertise in C and modern software engineering principles
• Shipped at least one AAA game title or equivalent real-time simulation product in a senior or lead engineering capacity
• Experience owning the technical side of a product roadmap working closely with Product and Design to translate vision into an executable plan
• A track record of architecting and delivering solutions to complex open-ended technical challenges in large codebases
• Solid understanding of 3D math and real-time rendering concepts
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills with an ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Linux or console platform development experience
• Experience with low-level systems performance optimization and memory management
• Experience building tools or visualization clients for complex simulation systems

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience education and/or training critical skills and/or business considerations.
