Associate Director of Programs Beyond BarnardReporting to the Director Advising and Programs the Associate Director is the administrative leader of Beyond Barnards signature programs (including workshops series alumnae engagement events etc.) and events/programs executed in collaboration with cross-campus collaboration with the Associate Director of Advising the Associate Director of Programs provides direct supervision for Beyond Barnards Peer Career Advising program and manages Beyond Barnards flagship Career Well-Being Certificate Program. Under the guidance of the Director the Associate Director provides input on the strategic direction and execution of programs ensuring alignment with the mission of Beyond Barnard and the broader work of the Community Engagement & Lifelong Success Division and College. As a member of the Advising & Programs Team the Associate Director of Programs provides front-line advising support to students and alumnae across all topics covered by Beyond Barnard.Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide leadership for Beyond Barnards signature programs (including workshops series alumnae engagement events etc.); serve as a central hub for campus-wide partners to request and plan programs and events to meet specific needs; collaborate with cross-division and cross-campus partners to solicit speakers plan programming objectives and execute on logistics.
Develop learning objectives and desired outcomes for all program series; create semesterly event and program schedules that provide students alumnae and cross-campus partners visibility on programming series; and in collaboration with CELS Division Staff and Communications develop and execute program promotion strategies.
Liaise with cross-campus departments to identify career development programming needs and opportunities.
Conduct individual advising with students and alumnae on all topics covered by Beyond Barnard; maintain (and share across the entire Beyond Barnard team) a deep understanding of best practices related to advising for students and alumnae across all career stages.
Hire train and co-manage (in collaboration with the Associate Director of Advising) a team of Peer Career Advisors (PCAs).
Develop and supervise the execution of all PCA programming including core events related to the Career Well-Being Certificate Program.
Working with Beyond Barnard staff maintain a set of projects for PCAs to supplement their advising work and monitor progress in these projects.
Assign and supervise PCA-led programs offered in collaboration with cross-campus partners; designate PCAs as liaisons to student groups residential houses academic departments etc. as appropriate
Co-lead weekly PCA team staff meetings; incorporate ongoing training opportunities.
Oversee performance reviews with PCAs (including observation of PCA advising appointments).
Lead performance improvement process for PCAs as required.
Plan professional development opportunities for PCAs.
Manage and implement career specific programs and field trips by identifying industry partners to sponsor and host events; recruit speakers and students for participation in programs.
Coordinate targeted campus outreach and programming customized seminars workshops and programs based on student career needs assessment and faculty requests. Collaborate closely with and advise faculty and college administrators on methods to enhance the quality of career development and expand departmental participation.
Develop implement and manage best practices around integration of new and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence into advising programming and administrative practices at Beyond Barnard; collaborate where possible with cross-campus technology advisory groups to identify opportunities to leverage these technologies in support career well-being work.
Develop print and electronic resources and career guides. Design handouts brochures and other materials.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking/presentation.
Facility with current technology and web-based applications.
The ability to focus and work quickly to handle multiple tasks set priorities and absorb detail is essential.
The ability to understand and adhere to college and national policy and to decipher between confidential and need-to-know information is a must.
Ability to build and cultivate relationships with diverse on- and off-campus stakeholders including students alumnae parents staff members faculty members representatives of graduate programs and employers.
Maturity sensitivity tact judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to contribute to the tone of professionalism in the office and to remain calm and flexible under pressure
Ability to work effectively both as an individual and in a fast-paced and evolving setting that requires extensive cooperation and collaboration among all staff members.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required.
3-5 years of related experience that includes demonstrated experience in advising college students and graduates on career development and preparation for graduate and professional education as well as programming experience.
Experience supervising student workers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree preferred.
Experience with quantitative and qualitative assessment of program effectiveness.
This job is currently a hybrid position but may require a presence in the office up to five times a week depending on operational needs.
Salary Range: $78000 - $83000 annually
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to departmental budgets qualifications experience education licenses specialty and training. The above hiring range represents the Colleges good faith and reasonable estimateof the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
