Job Summary
Kent Place School is seeking a visionary and organized K-12 School Librarian and Media Specialist to join our library staff. This role which offers an opportunity for program leadership will collaborate to oversee the strategic direction and operations of the library program across all divisions while maintaining a direct daily presence in the learning community through student support and instruction.
Leadership & Administration
- Budget Management: Oversee and manage the comprehensive K-12 library budget ensuring equitable resource distribution and strategic acquisitions and curating of materials.
- Program Oversight: Direct the library team to support learning and promote a love of literature for a vibrant community of curious students.
- Collection Development: Lead the selection and maintenance of diverse high-quality print and digital collections for Primary Middle and Upper School libraries.
Instruction & Student Services
- Information Literacy: Design and deliver instructional sessions on research skills media literacy and digital citizenship.
- Readers Advisory: Provide daily personalized book recommendations and support to our curious and engaged students in grades K-12 to foster a lifelong appreciation of reading.
- Technical Assistance: Assist students and faculty with the use of library technology Google Suite and learning management systems.
Technical Services & Operations
- System Management: Oversee technical functions including cataloging and processing for both the Middle/Upper School and Primary School libraries.
- Promotional Initiatives: Lead book promotions and library events to engage the school community.
- Daily Support: Provide coverage for events and serve as an advisor or member of school committees and task forces.

Collaboration and Community
- Interest in leading activities that broaden understanding of media literacy and connection with the Library as a vibrant learning and community space.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues across academic departments and the school.
- Enthusiasm for advising students in the middle or upper schools and participating in community events.
Requirements:
- A masters degree in librarianship or a related field and prior experience in an educational setting are preferred.
- Prior experience in technical services and information literacy is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of prior experience in a school setting with a demonstrated track record in a visionary approach to the role is preferred.
- Regularly required to sit stand walk and operate computer equipment; must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
