Position Summary

The Certified Pool Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe clean and efficient operation of the Student Recreation Center aquatic facilities in compliance with Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Public Aquatic Facility Rules and OSHA regulations. This role maintains proper water quality oversees sanitation of the pools spa and surrounding areas and performs routine and preventative maintenance on pumps motors filtration chlorination pH control and UV systems. The position manages inventory of chemicals and equipment coordinates annual maintenance activities during scheduled building closures relating to aquatics facilities and ensures mechanical spaces remain organized and safe.

The Certified Pool Operator conducts regular safety inspections documents maintenance activities and promptly addresses or isolates hazards. The role also involves coordinating with vendors university facilities staff and contractors for repairs or special projects.

This position in collaboration with leadership in the Aquatics area will schedule train and supervise student employees who assist with deep cleaning and maintenance during academic breaks.

Minimum Requirements

One year of experience as a maintenance or general laborer.

Special requirements for this position include a Certified Pool Operator certification or Aquatic Facility Operator certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years of Aquatic Facility operations of commercial pools with more than 50000 gallons and multiple bodies of water.
Two (2) years of experience maintaining commercial spas.
