As we continue to welcome visitors to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and share our conservation story - we have an opportunity for a passionate energetic and experienced Casual Wildlife Officer to support our dedicated Wildlife team and connect with our animals and visitors.

About the Role
Reporting to the Exotic animal supervisor we are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Wildlife Officer Farmyard & Exotics to join our Wildlife this Full-time role you will be responsible for ensuring high standards of animal welfare through daily husbandry health monitoring and enrichment of a diverse collection of farmyard and exotic animals including birds reptiles and mammals.

You will be actively involved in food preparation and the delivery of animal diets as well as maintaining enclosures and exhibits to a high standard. The role also includes record keeping and general maintenance duties within your area of responsibility.

As a key member of the team you will contribute to engaging guest experiences through keeper talks sharing animal knowledge and delivering excellent customer service while promoting conservation messages.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have a Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care. You will have the ability to work independently and provide accurate daily updates and reports as required. Other key skills and qualifications we are looking for include:

  • Proven animal handling and husbandry skills with the ability to work independently
  • Confidence working with birds and mammals
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly professional approach
  • High level of energy teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical fitness to walk long distances stand for extended periods and carry/support up to 10kg
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Current manual drivers licence and First Aid qualifications (highly desirable)
  • Flexible availability including weekends and school holidays
  • Willingness to complete required training and immunisations
