The Shift Engineer is responsible for managing and monitoring all technical operations during assigned shifts ensuring uninterrupted functioning of building systems prompt issue resolution and adherence to safety and maintenance standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Technical Operations & Maintenance
Operate and monitor MEP systems including Electrical HVAC DG sets UPS Lifts STP/WTP Fire systems and Plumbing
Ensure all equipment runs as per manufacturer guidelines and SOPs
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities
Maintain logbooks checklists and equipment records
2. Breakdown & Troubleshooting
Attend to equipment breakdowns and technical faults during the shift
Identify root causes and carry out immediate corrective actions
Escalate major issues to senior management/vendor teams
Ensure minimum downtime of all critical systems
3. Shift Operations Management
Take and hand over charge during shift change with proper documentation
Ensure continuous availability of utilities (power water HVAC etc.)
Monitor energy consumption and system performance
Coordinate with control room and site teams
4. Vendor & Contractor Coordination
Supervise vendor activities during the shift
Ensure work is executed as per safety and quality standards
Verify completion of assigned maintenance tasks
5. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with EHS and safety standards
Follow LOTO procedures PPE usage and safety guidelines
Respond to emergency situations (fire alarms power failures system faults)
Support fire drills and emergency preparedness activities
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain and update:
Shift logs and incident reports
Equipment performance records
Maintenance checklists
Report daily activities and incidents to the Property Manager / Assistant Manager
7. Inventory & Tools Management
Ensure availability of tools spares and consumables required during shift
Track usage and report shortages
8. Tenant & Service Support
Respond to tenant complaints related to technical services
Ensure timely resolution of issues affecting occupants
Maintain high standards of delivery service
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Diploma / Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
25 years of experience in Facility Management / Commercial Properties
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in rotational shifts
Basic knowledge of safety and compliance standards
Good communication and coordination skills
