We are hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing of our Nursing Home in Co Kerry.
The ADON - Assistant Director of Nursing assumes responsibility for directing and coordinating the management of the nursing home maintaining a high standard of residential care and activities. This is a Permanent/Full Time Position.
Working alongside the Director of Nursing (DON) the ADON supports and assists in managing all staff to uphold the standards set by the Nursing Home. Additionally the role involves establishing and nurturing relationships with residents built on mutual respect and equality.
Responsibilities
- Support the Person in Charge (PIC) in the effective day-to-day management of operations and staff
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality person-centred care in line with best practice standards
- Assume responsibility for the centre in the absence of the PIC ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Provide strong clinical leadership supervision and mentorship to nursing and care teams
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation HIQA standards and organisational policies
- Oversee safeguarding procedures ensuring all concerns are managed promptly and appropriately
- Coordinate staffing levels and workforce planning to meet residents needs
- Promote a culture of continuous learning development and quality improvement
- Act as a clinical resource maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices in elderly care
- Promote and maintain a safe supportive working environment for staff and residents
- Participate in a flexible rota including weekend coverage across a 7-day service
Requirements
Registered Nurse with An Bord Altranais (active PIN required).
Third-level degree in Nursing.
Minimum of 6 years post-registration nursing experience including at least 2 years in a nursing home setting.
At least 2 years experience in a management role.
Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (or willingness to complete).
Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care is desirable.
Current and valid certifications in Infection Control Manual and Resident Moving & Handling Medication Management Dementia CPR and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if required).
Strong leadership organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to motivate and support a high-performing team.
Commitment to delivering outstanding care to older people.
