Job Title:Digital Accessible Document Specialis

Job Description:
- We are seeking a Digital Accessible Document Specialist to support accessibility compliance across City departments. This role focuses on remediating creating and validating digital documents to meet accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA.
- The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in PDF tagging document structure optimization and accessibility compliance along with the ability to guide teams in producing accessible content independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit remediate and validate digital documents (PDFs Word Excel PowerPoint and forms) for accessibility compliance
- Ensure adherence to WCAG 2.1 AA PDF/UA and Section 508 standards
- Use tools like Adobe Acrobat Pro CommonLook and PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker)
- Develop and maintain accessible document templates style guides and remediation workflows
- Perform quality assurance reviews on departmental documents
- Track remediation progress and report compliance status
- Collaborate with Accessibility Architect and Digital Services teams
- Train and support internal staff on accessible document best practices
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in digital document accessibility remediation
- Strong expertise in:
- PDF tagging and reading order
- Accessible forms and document structure
- Advanced proficiency with:
- Adobe Acrobat Pro (Accessibility tools Tags panel Reading Order)
- CommonLook PDF Validator
- PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker)
- In-depth knowledge of:
- WCAG 2.1 AA
- PDF/UA (ISO 14289)
- Section 508
- ADA Title II
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with government or public sector accessibility standards
- Ability to create documentation templates and training materials
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
