    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Director- Adult Education.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Masters degree required in Adult Education or educational administration/leadership.
    2. New Jersey School Administrator Certificate (preferred).
    3. New Jersey Principal Certificate.
    4. Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in school or District-level administration asPrincipal.
    5. Minimum of four (4) years successful experience in teaching Adult Education.
    6. Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum assessment and instruction.
    7. Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
    8. Ability to create a District-level professional development program.
    9. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    I. Management and Coaching of Instructional Staff
    1. Observes coaches and evaluates Teachers Department Chairs and District Supervisors as wellas provides ongoing professional development for targeted improvement in identified growthareas.
    constructive feedback to Principals Vice Principals District Supervisors and
    Department Chairs on the improvement of student achievement and effective implementation of
    the Adult Education curricular programs.
    all Teach NJ Educator Effectiveness activities (IPDP/CAP) observations and
    evaluations) of District Level Supervisors and Teachers of Adult Education.
    evaluation ratings of District Level Supervisors and Teachers of Adult Education.
    the orientation and mentor responsibilities of all novice and District-level Supervisors aswell as monitors the orientation and mentorship of Teachers and Teacher Coaches.
    Teacher Coaches and Academic Interventionists to reach maximum implementation ofDistrict approved curricular guides and intervention strategies by providing monthly and quarterlyongoing professional development opportunities.
    all Adult Education achievement quarterly reports and provide a comprehensive
    review and presentation at various forums throughout the school year.

    II. Curriculum Instruction and Assessment
    1. Serves as the Districts leader and expert in the area of Adult Education.
    updates and furnishes rigorous College and Career standards for Adult Education curriculum guides bridge manualsif applicable and technological resources to the District.
    3. Leads the Districts textbook adoption and curriculum committee and process ensuring all curricular resources andsupplements are fully vetted; meeting College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education and the diverse needs of allstudents.
    a comprehensive strategy to guarantee an accurate inventory and timely distribution ofall curricular resources.
    all Adult Education diagnostics interim assessments District assessments
    mid-term and final exams.
    with the Director ofSpecial Education to ensure curriculum guides units of student resources and assessments are
    tailored for all learners.
    with all District Directors to ensure curriculum guides units of study resources andassessments are aligned to State standards and result in interdisciplinary opportunities.

    III. Organizational Leadership
    1. Establishes and executes organizational systems and strategies to monitor District SupervisorsDepartment Chairs Teacher Coaches and District goals.
    and monitors strategies for high-level collaboration among faculty and staff.
    effectively and maintains a positive disposition in all circumstances to ensure anoutcome that promotes student academic achievement staff professional development andDistrict-wide success.
    other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services.

    IV. Adult Education Improvement Plan

    1. Engages collaboratively in the school-wide and District-wide Adult Education effort to build a sharedvision and supportive culture identify common goals and monitor and evaluate progress towardthose goals.
    actively as an Adult Education team member to improve teaching and learning in theschool and District.
    actively as part of school team giving feedback on Adult Education practice examiningstudent work analyzing data from multiple sources making decisions to improve student learningand being accountable for each student learning in the area of Adult Education.
    results of improvement plan effectiveness to school Principals as well as the AssistantSuperintendent of Student Support Services.
    design and participates in school and/or District professional development activities to improveAdult Education teachings and learning.
    design and participates in parent and family workshops to enhance Adult Education learning athome and school.
    in professional learning to enhance his/her knowledge and skill in Adult Education
    contributes to the knowledge and skills of Supervisors Department Chairpersons Teacher Coachesas well as Teachers and work collaboratively to advance professional practice in Adult Education.

    8. Develops and sustains strategic partnerships with external institutions community-based organizations higher education entities and local businesses to expand adult education services beyond Newark Public Schools sites ensuring increased access enrollment and program offerings for residents across the community.

    SALARY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION

    1. Salary Range: $156000 to $171000
    2. Employment Period:Twelve (12) Months
    3. Union affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.).
