Job Title: Electrician

GovFirst is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to support tunnel bridge and roadway infrastructure projects throughout Southeast Virginia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preventive maintenance installation troubleshooting and repair of electrical mechanical and digital systems supporting transportation facilities.
This role is essential to maintaining safe reliable and compliant operations within a high-volume transportation environment and requires flexibility to support a 24/7/365 operating model.
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Electrical Work
Keep electrical systems in good working order by regularly checking them fixing problems and preventing future issues.
Find and fix electrical problems in large buildings and industrial systems including high-power electrical equipment.
Make sure all wiring and electrical work is done safely and meets national safety rules.
Inspect electrical systems to spot wear damage or safety concerns and recommend repairs before failures occur.
Installation & Repair Work
Install repair and maintain electrical wiring equipment and control systems used in tunnels bridges and roadways.
Help plan where wiring and electrical equipment should be placed for new or upgraded systems.
Build or modify electrical parts when needed and make sure all completed work meets safety and quality standards.
Check electrical work done by outside contractors to ensure it meets project and safety requirements.
Reading Plans & Keeping Records
Read and understand electrical drawings diagrams and instructions.
Review how electrical systems are working and suggest improvements when problems are found.
Estimate how much time materials and labor are needed for electrical jobs.
Keep clear and accurate records of inspections repairs and work performed.
Safety & Daily Operations
Use testing tools hand tools power tools and equipment safely and correctly.
Take care of tools and equipment so they stay clean safe and ready to use.
Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about job status and any issues.
Respond quickly and safely to electrical emergencies when they occur.
Perform some work from elevated bucket trucks when required.

- Strong understanding of how electrical systems work and how to fix them.
- Ability to solve electrical problems in commercial and industrial settings.
- Good communication skillsable to explain issues clearly and follow instructions.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to work flexible hours including nights weekends and emergencies.
Required Experience:
- 2 Years of experience working with commercial or industrial electrical systems.
- Experience reading electrical drawings and working with electrical panels and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with electrical safety rules and best practices
Required Education
Required Licenses & Mandatory Background Check
Licensed Master Electrician (required)
Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
Valid drivers license
Must pass DMV record check drug screening and fingerprint-based background check
Work Environment
90-day probation period.
Required safety and industry training provided.
Work takes place outdoors year-round often along busy highways and transportation facilities.
Fast-paced environment with possible short-notice assignments.
Evening weekend and overtime work may be required.
Physically demanding work that includes standing walking lifting climbing bending and working at heights.
Safety gear and uniforms are provided.
Job performance is reviewed regularly.

Strong situational awareness and ability to multitask in a fast-paced noisy environment. Scheduling flexibility including weekends holidays and varying shifts. Field operations experience preferred. Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor. Education & Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. Knowledge of traffic control operations rules and procedures. Familiarity with Hampton Roads interstates and local roadways. Strong command of the English language (verbal and written); Spanish bilingual skills are a plus. General working knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Experience with radio telephone and dispatch communications. Computer proficiency including Windows-based applications and Apple devices. Work Authorization Must be a U.S. Citizen Work Environment & Conditions 90-day probationary period. Required VDOT and industry-specific training. Hazardous work environment involving on-foot roadway operations. All-season all-hour interstate driving and facility coverage. Extended periods of standing or sitting may be required.
