The International Trade Paralegal position plays a key role in the Firms International Trade Practice providing clients with guidance on global trade policies and remedies. Utilizing strong research writing and data analysis skills to detect trends and irregularities the paralegal will support advocacy in negotiations and trade dispute proceedings.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Trade Remedies & Litigation:
    • Collaborate with team members in drafting and preparing submissions before the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. International Trade Commission in antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings
    • Work with team members in drafting and preparing submissions before the U.S. Trade Representative the U.S. Court of International Trade and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
    • Participate in practice efforts in conducting internal investigations and drafting voluntary disclosures to relevant government enforcement authorities (US Customs US Department of Commerce etc.)

  • Research & Analysis:
    • Perform trade research and analysis including by reviewing import data trade trends and market statistics to aid attorneys in advising current and future clients
    • Contribute to practice efforts in conducting due diligence and reverse due diligence reviews related to export controls and sanctions compliance in the mergers and acquisitions context

  • Client Relations & Business Development:
    • In partnership with other colleagues work with clients on ongoing trade matters
    • Collaborate with team members in preparing business proposals for future clients as needed
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field

Professional Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in international trade specifically antidumping and countervailing duty and other trade remedy proceedings.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Westlaw Lexis and PACER

Performance Traits:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Possess strong analytical skills supported by advanced Excel skills and the ability to convey detailed information to others in a concise manner
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to work under pressure meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
  • Strong attention to detail organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • May require travel to other offices as needed (Optional)

The typical pay scale for this position between $51000 and $68000 although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidates education experience skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
