The Impact you will have

The Manager of Mental Health Parity leads a team that guides supports and monitors cross-functional operational areas within the organization to ensure compliance with the federal Mental Health Parity Addiction and Equity Act (MHPAEA) as well as state mental health parity requirements. This team assists business owners in operational areas with identifying and evaluating nonquantitative treatment limitations assessing whether their design and implementation adhere to parity standards and creating and maintaining documentation repositories that demonstrate compliance.

Your Responsibilities

Lead and Manage Team Operations

  • Supervise a team of associates responsible for parity compliance evaluations.
  • Provide mentorship training and performance oversight to the team.
  • Manage associates that provide guidance services and monitoring across the organizations divisions and departments relating to mental health parity.
  • Maintain MHP training communication and education for applicable associates and vendors.
  • Monitor MHP Program activities to ensure they are consistently operationalized and implemented.
  • Oversee preparation of responses to internal and external MHP inquiries audits and exams.

Oversee Parity Compliance

  • Facilitate all levels of MHP governance and oversight; oversee and maintain the organizations parity infrastructure and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrate aptitude with operationalizing compliance requirements.
  • Conduct research of MHP state and federal laws and regulations to understand and support ongoing enterprise compliance.
  • Maintain current and thorough knowledge and understanding of all state and federal parity requirements including being informed of industry-specific regulations to ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are in place with respect to mental health parity.
  • Complete any reporting needed to affirm status of mental health parity oversight and aid the organizations legal compliance and internal audit areas in their oversight and monitoring efforts.
  • Provide guidance related to self-insured clients health plans compliance with MHPAEA federal regulations and applicable state laws.
  • Review self-insured clients plan assessments NQTL comparative analyses and summary reports prior to final delivery.

Collaborate Across Departments

  • Facilitate integration of MHP requirements and processes into business practices operational policies and business segments.
  • Anticipate evaluate and identify potential organizational needs relating to mental health parity compliance requirements that may result from new or existing organizational policies procedures and/or business plans within the organization.
  • Support ongoing internal parity monitoring and related corrective action and remediation as indicated.
  • Contribute to the evolution and execution of the organizations strategic and operational business plans impacting mental health parity.
  • Collaborate with all relevant business areas to maintain a current mental health parity documentation repository consistent with regulatory requirements.

Deliver Expert Guidance

  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear actionable manner; Comfortable speaking to diverse audiences including executives.
  • Serve as a key resource on complex and critical parity matters.
  • Facilitate the identification and analysis of multifaceted issues and data.
  • Provide clear explanations and information to stakeholders as needed.
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions.

Ensure Quality and Accuracy

  • Oversee the drafting of comprehensive assessment reports with attention to detail and quality.
  • Maintain high standards of analytical rigor and regulatory interpretation.

Monitor Regulatory Changes

  • Stay current on MHPAEA updates federal guidance and state-level parity laws.
  • Adapt team processes and client recommendations accordingly.

Support Client Engagement

  • Participate in client meetings and presentations as a mental health parity subject matter expert as needed.
  • Address client inquiries and provide ongoing support for parity-related issues.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • 5 years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work education transferable skills and military experience will be considered
  • Leadership experience preferably in a regulatory or consulting environment.
  • Experience in managed care setting with health plan compliance regulatory affairs quality or parity regulation
  • Experience with Mental Health Parity (MHPAEAA) Federal Regulatory requirements and applicable state laws
  • Experience addressing mental health parity state and federal laws and regulations including collaborating with subject matter experts and service providers to obtain input necessary for assessing and demonstrating mental health parity compliance
  • Medicaid and commercial insurance experience
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory language to benefit designs
  • Proven experience managing complicated projects keeping track of details and staging work to deliver projects on time
  • Excellent analytic/critical thinking skills; ability to interpret complex benefit designs synthesize data and identify potential compliance gaps and their impact to the functioning and operations of all divisions
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to delegate coach and manage workload effectively
  • Proven self-starter can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Intellectually curious; proven willingness and eagerness to take on new and challenging projects with interest and enthusiasm for learning new subjects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with account managers benefit specialists and clients
  • Excellent consultation and advisory skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met
  • Proven ability to prioritize and to identify matters requiring escalation or special attention
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by an ability to establish trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders with proven capability to work with people at multiple levels in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to keep confidentiality
  • Familiarity with health plan documentation benefit summaries COCs and SPDs; understanding of provider network medical policy utilization management and health benefit products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and skills working in a computer-based office suite environment Microsoft Windows (Word Excel etc.) Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Comfort with digital collaboration tools (e.g. SharePoint Teams OneNote)
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health Health Policy Law or other health related field (e.g. licensed social worker or registered nurse)
  • Prior experience working with self-insured clients
  • Process improvement and ability to implement tools or systems that improve team efficiency and accuracy

We come together in the office two days each week most teams designate at least one anchor day to ensure team interaction. These in-person moments foster relationships creativity and alignment. Compensation and Benefits

$117800.00 - $159000.00 - $200200.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position including skills ability and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
