We are hiring Staff Nurse- Oncology Day Unit into a Hospital in Dublin Ireland.
Responsibilities
Ensure safe preparation and administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy in accordance with Department of Health guidelines hospital policies and evidence-based protocols.
Administer prescribed chemotherapy treatments via cannula PICC line Hickman line or Portacath ensuring adherence to clinical safety standards.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist oncology care and ensure continuity of treatment for patients.
Provide comprehensive patient education regarding treatment plans potential side effects and self-care management including written information where appropriate.
Assess delegate and supervise staff responsibilities in line with professional legal and departmental standards ensuring safe and effective patient care delivery.
Maintain clear communication with nursing management regarding unit requirements incidents complaints and risk management issues.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives audits accreditation processes and health promotion activities to enhance clinical standards and patient outcomes.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation effective resource utilisation and adherence to internal controls and governance frameworks.
Support staff development by acting as a preceptor/mentor contributing to orientation programmes identifying training needs and participating in ongoing education initiatives.
Demonstrate professional accountability by maintaining a portfolio of learning attending mandatory training promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and remaining flexible to meet service demands including assisting other departments when required.
Requirements
Hold a Registered General Nurse licence in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Postgraduate qualification in Oncology desirable.
Minimum of two years clinical experience preferred with oncology experience considered an advantage.
Demonstrate strong teaching ability leadership skills professional judgement critical thinking and problem-solving capability.
Show evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development.
Possess strong multitasking and effective time management skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
