Job Summary
Tapping Technicians provide effective maintenance and operation for water and wastewater utilities. The Tapping Technicians travel out of town.
Key Responsibilities
Role Responsibilities
Field work involving the installation repair and maintenance of underground water mains and tapping water mains
Independent travel to multiple worksites utilizing service trucks or equipment
Performs line stops wet taps and valve insertions utilizing different pipe types and products.
Breakdown and setup of line stops tapping and valve inserting equipment.
Performing and assisting in shop duties as necessary
Work within confined spaces (trench boxes excavations tunnels and mechanical rooms)
Prepare and/or complete work orders and safety sheets
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records

Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Required Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of and the ability to use basic hand tools materials and equipment commonly used in the performance of job function.
Knowledge of using pumps compressors and other appropriate equipment
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to write legible and descriptive reports on duties performed.
Ability to work on emergency repairs and services unsupervised or in teams of various sizes.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in various and/or extreme weather conditions
Must have a valid drivers license clear of multiple and/or major violations.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of OSHA 30 within 90 days of hire.
Completion of OSHA 10 within the first week of hire.
Completion of Confined Space Training within one week of hire.
2 years of relevant construction experience (preferred)
