Purpose of Position: The Outreach Specialist plays an integral role in providing access to preventative veterinary services in underserved communities. This position leads the strategy planning and overall success of community vaccine clinics and associated outreach activities.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the planning coordination marketing and evaluation of all community outreach events in underserved communities in the metro Denver area. These events are majority vaccine clinics but also include wellness clinics residential center visits and tabling events.
- Works in partnership with the Vaccine Clinic Coordinator to ensure readiness for each event. This includes but is not limited to transportation supplies set up and break down.
- Actively participates in clinic operations including registering clients assisting with pet restraint and processing client check-out.
- Provides on-site leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers ensuring clinics operate efficiently and effectively. This may include conflict resolution client de-escalation and adapting operations due to unexpected challenges (e.g. staffing shortages weather).
- Ensures clinics deliver exceptional equitable client service to diverse communities.
- Oversees administrative functions including staff and volunteer scheduling appointment scheduling reporting (e.g. demographics outcomes) and financial reconciliation processes.
- Develops and delivers training programs for staff and volunteers.
- Maintains accountability for clinic supplies equipment and vehicles.
- Develops client education about pet care and connects clients to additional services within Humane Colorado as needed.
- Participates in stocking and unstocking of company vehicle(s) before and after events.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and procedures including safety plans client services and event workflow and efficiency.
- Builds and maintains community partnerships and expand outreach efforts.
- Partners with veterinarians on-site to support clinic flow and respond to emergencies for staff/volunteer injuries or pet vaccine reactions.

Travel
- This position requires driving of a company vehicle (sprinter van) to and from events. Training will be provided upon hire.

Schedule: Full-time role consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week including a required Saturday shift.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work performed in hospital office setting within communities and outdoors. Work may be performed outside at times in cold snowy rainy or hot conditions. Work is performed standing sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to lift carry push or pull up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation. Handle and restrain animals of various sizes weights and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Exposure to cleaning chemicals fumes dust animal dander and feces. Physical efforts require bending stooping standing climbing stairs and walking.

Required
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Work Experience: Two years of customer service experience and one year of experience coordinating community events and/or community relations
- Special Training Certification or Licensure: Valid drivers license with insurable driving record
Desired
- Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish
- Experience working as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant
- Experience working with veterinary practice management software systems
