Job Summary: The Planned Giving Officer is responsible to operate a comprehensive planned giving program which results in funds raised through the cultivation and closing of outright irrevocable and revocable deferred gifts. Responsible for developing and monitoring a personal portfolio of planned giving prospects and securing planned gifts from alumni grateful patients and friends of Loma Linda. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Business Philanthropy or a related field required. Master of Business Administration Degree preferred. Minimum five years experience in charitable fundraising marketing finance financial planning sales or other related field required preferably in healthcare or high education. Experience in charitable estate planning preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in Crescendo planned giving software and Raisers Edge fundraising software preferred. Must have the ability to work independently and to be self-motivated. Must possess sound judgment and have capacity for short and long-range planning. Ability to effectively and professionally present information one-on-one or in a group setting. May be required to make public presentations. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position e.g. Word Excel Power Point; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively effectively and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead supervise teach and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person in writing and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions decimals rates ratios and percentages. Ability to deal with problems and carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: NAD Planned Giving & Trust Administration Certification required within one year of hire date. Certified Specialist in Planned Giving certification preferred. Valid Drivers License required at time of hire.
