Job Summary
FRANKLIN INDUSTRIES is seeking a new Inside Yard Loader to join our team! This individual will empty the rail breaker skids of rail and load the Charge Rack with rail for the mill. The associate will also remove rerouted rail from the transfer cart and use a torch to fix defects found or caused by the mill. Empty scrap boxes the mill sets by the roll shop doors and assist highway needs if needed. The Inside Yard Loader Associate will be required to perform a variety of tasks to support the Rail Breaker Mill and Highway needs at Franklin Industries.
This is a full-time position with pay commensurate with experience ($16.25 - 20.00/hour). Full benefits package included.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to the Double Cycled/Rerouting Procedure (Y107).
- Use a torch to correct defects of rail to Franklin Industries standards.
- Flip rail with a wrench when looking for defects.
- Communicate with breaker operator rail in skid size differences.
- Marking inside yard map when rail piles change. (YF001)
- Communicate with Charge Rack employees of rail sizes.
- Operate the loader with forks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Build safe piles of rail that adhere to the needs of production.
- Perform daily loader inspection checklist and turn into Yard Manager.
- Ensure charge rack never runs out of rail and empty skids as needed.
- Load mill scale into trucks by using a bucket in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operating a radio for communication.
- Adhere to the Cornering procedures. (Y109) (Y110)
- Check for split rims and defects in tires.
- Move material around with a rail wrench and other no touch tools.
- 2 second lean
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or higher education certificate
- Previous experience using an industrial loader is highly preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must have above average communication skills and be able to follow work procedures and instructions both written and verbal.
- Must be able to meet attendance requirements and have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task and work with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to work in a safe manner.
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk and crawl around the loader
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to use a rail wrench.
- Ability to work in a safety-sensitive position - you will be working on and around heavy machinery.
- Ability to work outdoors in the elements year-round
STARTING PAY - Typically between $16.25 and $20.00/ hour. OT is paid at 1.5x pay after 40 hours. New employees are eligible for merit raises and more cross training opportunities after passing their 90-day probationary period.
