Job Summary
Introduction
The Maryland InsuranceAdministration (MIA) is an independent State agency that regulates Marylands$49 billion insurance industry and protects consumers by monitoring andenforcing insurers and insurance professionals compliance with Statelaw. Staff members are subject matter experts who serve as a resource forlawmakers consumers and other public and private entities.
The MIA is charged with a broad range of responsibilities including thelicensure of insurance carriers and insurance producers (brokers/agents)operating in Maryland the conduct of financial examinations of companies tomonitor financial solvency and the review and approval of rates and contractforms. The MIA investigates reports of consumer fraud and consumercomplaints about life health automobile homeowners and/or propertyinsurance. Insurance carriers are subject to market conduct examinationsand other actions to monitor compliance with Maryland law. The MIA alsohas a unit dedicated to consumer education and outreach which participates inhundreds of events and reaches thousands of individual consumers annually.

POSITION DUTIES
The Maryland Insurance Administration is recruiting to fill an Infrastructure Services Director position within the Management Information Systems Division (MIS). This position reports to the agencys Chief Information Officer. The Director oversees all activities of the Infrastructure Services Section which includes but is not limited to:
- Architecting designing implementing monitoring and maintaining all data center and cloud technologies to optimize infrastructure operations.
- Planning designing installing and supporting network security products to include firewalls intrusion protection systems and access control systems.
- Maintaining data and systems security by providing updates to MIA Security Policy Zero Trust and Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Providing leadership training and guidance to direct reports to ensure high availability and security for business applications.
- Providing guidance to manage Teams and AWS Connect VOIP and Wireless Access Point technology with DOIT.
- Architecting designing implementing monitoring and maintaining Azure Active Directory cleanup and group-based security on folders and applications.
- Overseeing preparation of requests for proposals (PORFPs and TORFPs) for data center hardware software and services.
- Recommending strategic and tactical projects for the MIAs Data Center and Infrastructure Services Unit.
- Developing maintaining and enforcing IT policies procedures standards and guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Three years of experience designing developing implementing maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers and designing developing testing implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers.

1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate plus thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology Management Information Systems Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in database management systems.
2 Candidates may substitute the possession of experience operating computer systems; or scheduling controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages on a year-for-year basis for graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology Management Information Systems Computer Science or other information technology related field to include course work in database management systems and three years of experience designing developing implementing maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Database Administration classifications or Database Administration specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
