Description of Work

The primary purpose of the Assistant Director position is to perform administrative and managerial work in directing and coordinating the delivery of residential facilitative rehabilitative and treatment programming of a Juvenile Justice facility. Modeling and social support for the behavior and cognitions values attitudes and beliefs conducive to pro-social behavior is a core expectation.

The position is involved in hiring training and supervising staff and managing delegated daily facility operations. Position participates in determining institution-wide goals and objectives as a member of the management team. Position serves as the Director in their absence or at their direction along with the continuous monitoring of all aspects of facility safety and security objectives addressing issues in a proactive and timely manner. This position ensures that all areas of the campus are meeting goals connected to the standards which are associated with the facility peer review.

This position is located at CA Dillon Juvenile Detention Center in Butner NC (Granville County).

Work Schedule:

Work schedule is 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday with occasional flexibility to meet operation needs. Position is required to be on call and available 24 / 7. Facilities are operated 24 / 7 weekends & holidays.

  • Working knowledge of the operations and supervision of a 24-hour secure juvenile residential facility.

  • Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention techniques.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective supervision practices relating to personnel management.

  • Working knowledge of the structure of the NC Juvenile Court System Criminal Justice standards and/or basic assessment principles.

    Minimum Education and Experience

    Masters degree in human services or business area such as psychology social work education business administration public administration or criminology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of professional experience in treatment programming for youth one year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity;

    Bachelors degree in one of the above areas from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience as specified above one of which should have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
