About the role

We have an exciting opportunity as aManager Facilities Infrastructure & Operations Management - Westto joinour dynamic team to support the West Region (BC AB SK MB).

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the buildings physical plant grounds and building equipment are in compliance with internal and external regulations and legislative requirements. You will be responsible for adherence to operating procedures and ensuring competency amongst team members including sub-contracted service providers. You will also manage projects end-to-end across the west portfolio and ensuring facilities are maintained and operated in a cost-effective manner while meeting CBS Corporate Facilities standards for quality & safety and stakeholders expectations for scope schedule and cost.

Formula for Success

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provides strong leadership and led the day-to-day operation delivery of facilities services and projects via direct staff multidisciplinary teams and external service providers.
  • Manage portfolio spend and budgeting
  • Maintain effective tracking and reporting of finance scope schedule procurement and invoicing and identifies opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork to ensure smooth & standardized delivery of services and projects while minimizing impact on operations and adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Identifies training needs initiates staff development offers and co-ordinates developmental opportunities through delegation additional responsibilities and outside training and education.
  • Participates in the grievance and problem resolution process as required while effectively leading conflict management/resolution between individuals and groups.
  • Support the Facilities Associate Director as needed.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Promote and maintain quality and safety mindset ensure staff and contractors are compliant with all corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participating in internal and external audit processes as needed.
  • Contributes to the design/development of specific processes standards and procedures within the Facilities environment.

Build & Maintain Positive Relationships

  • Develop communications strategies plans materials and tools to keep team and stakeholders informed of program objectives plans and schedules etc.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create partnerships and build strong relationships to achieve CBS mandate.


Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education with preference given to Facility Management IFMA and CPM certification or equivalent project management certification is an asset.
  • Minimum of five to eight years of related experience in facilities management experience with manufacturing and multi-site of medium to large sized operation including computerized environmental control systems.
  • Minimum of five years of managerial experience. Previous experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems including: refrigeration HVAC electrical distribution Compressed Air Fire Alarm Sprinkler Security Hot Water Heater Water treatment Pneumatic Control and Hydronic Systems.
  • Previous experience working within an GMP or ISO 9000 environment preferably within a highly regulated environment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills leadership and communication skills are essential.
  • Strong analytical abilities coupled with effective problem solving and decision-making skills required.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem solving decision-making and conflict resolution abilities are required.
  • Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within an integrated multi-disciplinary team environment.

What You Can Expect
  • This role will be based at Canadian Blood Services 4750 Oak St Vancouver BC location and expected to have an in-person presence for at least 80% of the time/4 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week 7.5 hours a day. On-call/weekend coverage and additional hours may be required depending on operational and project requirements.
  • Travel requirements (up to 30%) Flexibility to travel to various sites when required.
