Alumni Relations Director (B)Job Summary:
The Chief Advancement Officer will lead the College of Engineerings development alumni relations corporate relations foundation philanthropy and manage the connectivity between those areas and supervise staff accordingly. The Chief Advancement Officer will report to the College of Engineering Dean and will be a member of the Colleges senior leadership team which includes the Dean Associate Deans and Department Chairs.
Development and Alumni Relations
Work with the Dean Associate Deans Department Chairs and the UW Foundation to develop the Colleges fundraising goals strategies and plans.
Manage and oversee the implementation of those strategies and related activities.
In coordination with the UW Madison Foundation and Alumni Association the Chief Advancement Officer is responsible for the development and interpretation of strategies and policies to involve alumni in a wide-variety of activities including communications events awards and philanthropy.
Be directly and actively involved in cultivating and maintaining relationships with individuals organizations and other groups interested in supporting the College and its programs.
Serve as the primary contact for College of Engineering alumni and the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Develop implement and evaluate alumni relation activities including alumni receptions and other outreach activities.
Along with Department Chairs oversee and coordinate the efforts of the embedded development and alumni relations officers.
Maintain close and effective working ties with the UW Foundation.
Inform and engage faculty and staff with development and alumni relations efforts.
Corporate Relations
Develop strategies and goals to utilize corporate relationships to further the teaching research and outreach missions of the College.
Work with College leadership and staff to develop and maintain productive and mutually beneficial corporate relationships.
Other
Foster and maintain effective liaisons with campus-level administration and maintain working relationships with other college and school administrators.
Complete special projects as assigned by the Dean.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develops strategic planning initiatives and objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial administrative and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan
- Monitors alumni operational activities and ensures adherence to established objectives
Serves on the deans leadership team for the college and is the main point of contact between college leadership and other stakeholders
- Serves as the chief alumni liaison to leadership and internal and external stakeholders at large events promotes and advocates for institutional alumni relations goals and initiatives
- Recommends changes to ensure goals are met and to foster relationships and promote alumni impact
- Advises leadership on alumni relations objectives strategies and performance
- Develops and oversees the budget
- Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance

Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $160000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
This position requires 8 years of experience while well-qualified candidate will have at least 10 years of experience with increasing levels of responsibility working in development alumni relations communications or a similar capacity dealing with external constituencies.
The candidate must have excellent interpersonal organizational and managerial skills.
Experience supervising staff
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective long-range planning problem solving team building and management of multiple work responsibilities in order to achieve organizational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing and coordinating with advisory boards alumni groups corporate management or large volunteer groups.
Higher Education experience
Education:
Bachelors degree is required; Masters degree or higher in a relevant field preferred.
