Your Opportunity
As a Senior Program Officer in our Operational Communications Unit you will play in key role in the organisation by bringing your technical project expertise and proactive problem-solving to QFD.
This role truly is a frontline-enabling position where your work directly impacts the safety of our firefighters and the communities they protect. You will join a high-energy responsive team that provides the strategic direction on communication capability and equipment standards for QFDs mission-critical radio cellular and satellite systems.
In this fast-paced environment you will bridge the gap between complex contract management and real-world operational readiness. Whether you are delivering logistic projects to enhance operational systems auditing fleet communications or deploying at short notice to support incidents and disaster operations your curiosity and solutions-focused mindset will ensure our teams stay connected when it matters most.
Based at Albion youll use your agile approach and ability learn on the fly to ensure communications equipment and resources are always response ready in an ever-changing environment! And when a disaster activation comes youre ready to:
- Represent QFD and contribute to the delivery of projects in accordance with the Operational Communication Plan to ensure outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes.
- Provide in-field support for project rollouts communication deployments and logistics operations including response activations requiring deployment to operational locations across Queensland at short notice.
- Manage faults escalation and resolution of technical issues and coordinatemaintenance ofoperational communicationsequipmentto ensure service deliverycontinuity.
- Undertake and manage sourcing initiatives including research and development of specifications tendering documentsevaluationand implementation ofappropriate communications equipment.
- Manage supplier contractual performance including the evaluation and acceptance testing of enhancements to operational communications fleet and equipment.
- Monitor and conduct regular audits of the specialist communications equipment and infrastructure identifying risks and providing recommendations for improvement to enhance operational capability.

You will have a proven track record in project coordination contract management or technical service delivery. While not mandatory we would highly value:
- Experience within an emergency service organisation or a similarly high-pressure 24/7 environment.
- Knowledge and/or experience with managing large-scale logistics within a complex service delivery environment.
- Familiarity with the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS)
