The City of Abbotsford is looking for Auxiliary Recreation Worker II Program Assistants to join our Parks Recreation & Culture team. Under the supervision of the Community Recreation Programmers Recreation Worker IIs is responsible for assisting with a variety of social cultural sport and general interest activities for early years child youth and adult programs.

- Excellent customer service communication skills & positive attitude
Duties:
- Provide high quality customer service.
- Assist in leading weekly pre-registered programs (sports arts & crafts dance cooking early years parent participation children youth and adult) and childminding
- Supervise facilitate and host birthday parties.
- Set-up take-down and organize equipment and programs.
- Provide minor first aid to patrons as needed.
- Assist in delivering Go Play Outside activities including arts and crafts games sports and any other activities as directed by the supervisor.
- Clean and organize gym space program space storage rooms work area and facility.
- Keep Supervisors informed of day-to-day activities and operational needs.
- Inspect the physical space and equipment for hazards correct the hazards where possible and report the hazards.
- Act in a professional manner and maintain professional relationships with staff patrons and public.
- Ensure safe and proper use of equipment and facilities.
- Enforce general facility and program code of conduct rules and guidelines.
- Provide routine information to the public regarding programs and facilities.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED certification
- Completion of grade 10.
- High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate
- Six months experience working with the public preferably in a recreational environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Area of assignment may require additional experience including but not limited to: Assisting in skate lessons requires skating experience sufficient to pass a skating assessment Childminding requires six months experience working with early years children.
Candidates are required to provide a satisfactory Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check in order to work in this position. A clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position. It is the responsibility of the candidate to report to their manager any criminal charges laid against them during their term in this position.
