Job Summary
Senior Lecturer (Education- Focused Clinical Education) to coordinate the Medicine Block of the Doctor of Medicine Program delivered at the University of Sydney School of Rural Health in Dubbo NSW.
Part-time up to (0.2) FTE fixed term until December 2026 with the possibility of extension subject to funding
Base salary of $156103 Pro rata 17% superannuation clinical loading
About the opportunity
The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 2022 The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams: a Metropolitan stream based on the Universitys Camperdown campus in Sydney and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo.
We have a position available for a Senior Lecturer (Education-Focused Clinical Education) Medicine Block Coordinator who will undertake a range of duties related to the implementation of the curriculum as well as teaching and learning activities for the Medicine Block in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program (Dubbo Stream). This position will have a supervision and leadership role in the Program in Dubbo including coordination and management of academic staff and tutors within the portfolio.
This position is located at Dubbo. Limited travel between rural and metropolitan sites is a requirement of this position and therefore a drivers license is required. Some out-of-hours work is also required of this role.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty in the University and contains seven academic schools Medical School is one of these and includes both metropolitan and rural Clinical Schools

Your key responsibilities:
contribute to outstanding educational design delivery evaluation and outcomes
undertake independent teaching and coaching of students within a simulated or real clinical setting
contribute to scholarship and apply clinical knowledge and expertise for improved student outcomes
actively contribute to the research education and administrative activities of the discipline/School/Faculty
develop pragmatic teaching resources which reflect contemporary and innovative clinical practices with particular emphasis on rural practice.
provide academic oversight and leadership of the Medicine Block of the Sydney Medical School Doctor of Medicine Program at Dubbo
lead and coordinate staff/tutors.
support pastoral care needs of students at the Clinical School
fulfill Governance and Compliance requirements of the Sydney Medical Program Doctor of Medicine and the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program/Murray Darling Medical Schools Program Parameters
support the orientation and induction of students and staff to the area.
About you
Bachelor of Medicine (MB)/Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution
PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other relevant higher academic or professional qualification
recognition as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
current registration with AHPRA or equivalent professional bodies (where relevant)
clinical appointmnet at the local Dubbo hospital
demonstrated applied understanding of contemporary clinical best-practice
acknowledged as playing a major role in the profession for example by having a well-regarded leadership role in a clinical area of specialty and/or notable network of connections and strategic alliances
demonstrated excellence in clinical or scholarly activities relevant to educational design and practice
demonstrated success in supporting the academic endeavour from curriculum design to engaging in research/scholarship and providing a student enabling environment
deep and broad experience in effective clinical teaching and learning in an established Medical Program
leadership experience in a team-teaching environment as well as leading education activities to successful outcomes
significant experience in supervising others and coordinating successful team activities.
demonstrable understanding of and commitment to rural health
a broad knowledge of the Australian Healthcare system
current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
current drivers license
