Key Responsibilities:
Provide Holistic Student-Centered Advising
- Build intentional and supportive relationships with assigned advisees to promote academic career and personal growth.
- Lead goal-driven advising that aligns student goals with degree and career pathways.
- Monitor student progress toward completion and provide early interventions for at-risk students.
- Plan and monitor students on Academic Warnings or Contracts to encourage continued success.
Foster Engagement and a Culture of Student Success
- Create a welcoming student-centered environment through programming faculty partnerships and community-building activities.
- Plan implement and assess success and retention initiatives including occasional evening and weekend events.
- Participate in departmental and institutional initiatives that strengthen student persistence and engagement.
Ensure Compliance and Accurate Academic Guidance
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of college state and federal policies impacting admissions financial aid and degree completion.
- Communicate clearly with students to help them understand how regulations affect their academic progress.
- Collaborate with faculty administration and student services to ensure consistent accurate advising information.
- Provide first-line support for student conduct issues while modeling civil discourse and problem-solving strategies.
Support Career Development and Lifelong Learning
- Guide students in exploring careers using assessments and available campus resources.
- Assist with career preparation activities including résumé reviews and job placement support.
- Develop and deliver workshops focused on academic planning and career readiness.
- Uphold NACADA Core Values and represent CWIs mission through integrity and student advocacy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Strong technical abilities: database systems presentation software Microsoft Office suites or equivalent.
Strong professional writing skills are necessary.
Strong public speaking skills and ability to represent the college in a positive way to diverse populations.
Strong event planning/coordination skills.
Ability to interpret follow and administer academic and administrative policy.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to travel between various locations throughout the day.
At least two years of experience in college/university advising career counseling admission registrar financial aid office or goal-oriented client/customer service work.
Experience working in a community college setting serving a diverse non-traditional student population preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

**Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring managers discretion. All candidates must reside within or be willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
