Transportation Specialists for NYAP La Jornada Programs support driving children to and from appointments court hearings outings and visits home pick-ups/drop-offs and performing transportation services including accompanying children during reunifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Transportation Specialist for La Jornada will perform duties including but not limited to:

  • Performs all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Programs Mission Values and Philosophies.
  • Responsible for performing transportation services for children including but not limited to driving children to and from appointments court hearings visits program field trips and outings home pick-ups/drop-offs and performing comprehensive transportation services including accompanying children during reunifications.
  • Transport children in a manner that is appropriate to the age and physical and mental needs including proper use of car seats for young children.
  • Provide program support acting as physical escorts ensuring proper supervision ratios are maintained and supervising children and youth during transportation services.
  • Verifying transfer checklists and reunification documents are accurate and complete.
  • Supporting travel logistics and coordination; verifying routes and transportation arrangements including ensuring children travel with a supply of current medications (if applicable) belongings transfer documentation and meal arrangements.
  • Reviewing and completing transfer manifest and communicating with transportation points of contact and other transportation contractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with standard immigration court transport procedures for transporting children.
  • Maintain constant line of sight and sound supervision of each child during transport.
  • Complete a vehicle inspection report including an odometer reading following each trip; create and maintain a manifest of children transported and account for each child at exit or entrance of the vehicle.
  • Must be able to travel out of state up to 40%-50% for reunification efforts.
  • Maintains a daily log of times dates destinations transporters and length of transport.
  • Reports vehicle needs and damage to maintenance and tracks all vehicle issues in regard to repair.
  • Collects and tracks all safety checklist sheets and provides weekly report.
  • Schedule will vary depending on transport need; flexibility is needed. to work nontraditional hours and weekends.
  • Other duties may be assigned .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency is required.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Must have a valid drivers license reliable transportation automotive insurance and a good driving record.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers smartphones and tablets printers fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100000/300000 bodily liability coverage.
  • 21 years of age valid state drivers license reliable personal vehicle and a good driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity tactile visual and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion prolonged periods of sitting and standing and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds bending pulling and carrying.
  • Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods with frequency varying based on program demands.
