Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) NICU/Acute Care
Location: Indianapolis IN Shift: Night Shift 4x12-Hour (19:00 07:00) Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and Acute Care setting. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ventilator managementairway management and other essential respiratory therapies in a neonatal intensive care unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide respiratory care in NICUPICU and Pediatrics settings
Perform critical respiratory treatments including ventilator managementBiPAPCPAP and oxygen therapy
Conduct ABGspulmonary toiletingsuctioning and nebulizer treatments
Administer medications related to respiratory care and assist in emergency situations
Work closely with neonatologists pediatricians and the nursing team to ensure optimal patient care
Floating between NICUPICU and Pediatrics units as needed based on the hospitals needs
Ensure accurate and complete patient records using the hospitals electronic health system (Cerner/Epic)
Participate in Code Blue and other emergency responses
Maintain infection control protocols and follow universal precautions
Certification and License Requirements:
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NBRC RRT Certification (National Board for Respiratory Care)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Required for those placed in L&D (Labor and Delivery) but can be obtained after the offer
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Preferred
Indiana State License Must have an active license or apply for a temporary license in Indiana
Skillset Requirements:
NICU and PICU experience required (2 years minimum)
Strong experience in ventilator management and airway support for neonatal and pediatric patients
Ability to work independently and manage critical respiratory care with minimal supervision
Experience with L&D (Labor and Delivery) is a plus but not mandatory
Ability to float between NICUPICU and Pediatrics based on the facilitys needs
Knowledge of Cerner or similar documentation systems preferred
