Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant.
Position Status: Full-time - 40 hours / week
Position Location: Sentara Leigh Hospital - Norfolk VA
Standard Working Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday
Department Overview: Join our team-oriented employee health office! Our unit is open to new grads or experienced candidates. The Employee Health team is responsible for the health and wellness for Sentara employees. This includes pre-placement exams annual health assessments flu vaccines/immunizations return to work tests and fitness for duty evaluations.
Overview
The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training education and competency evaluations and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant (NP/PA) Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Education
Highschool grad or equivalent
Certification/Licensure
BLS (Required within 90 days)
Certified Medical Assistant Registered Medical Assistant Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or certified EMT (EMT-B AEMT) required
Experience
1 year of relevant clinical experience (required)
Experience with blood draws and vaccines (preferred)
Experience with Respiratory Fit testing (preferred)
