Job Summary
Purpose of the position:
This position performs routine clerical accounting and administrative work to assist with recordkeeping and reporting in support of the receipt and disbursement of departmental funds.
Essential Functions of the position:
- Perform technical support to various fiscal work units which may include accounts payable accounts receivable purchasing and payroll.
- Verify and maintain supporting records and documentation of designated activities such as billings payments reimbursements deposits and petty cash.
- Evaluate records reports and accounting documents for accuracy; research transactions to resolve questionable data and take corrective action.
- Perform routine account reconciliation and initiate appropriate course of action.
- Compile record and summarize fiscal data; create correspondence and related reports or documents.
- Provide information and assistance to other work units vendors and to the public regarding operating policies and procedures; explain technical information rules and regulations.
- Participate in the workflow of the office to meet deadlines; ensure compliance with established laws regulations policies and procedures.
- Maintain clear accurate and complete logs files and records and provide reports to management staff as requested.
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Typical Work Schedule: Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and County attendance policies and procedures.
*Note: This position has been identified as an emergency essential position and as such employees in this position may be needed to work including after-hours weekends and during a public emergency (to include but not limited to floods ice storms disease outbreak terrorist attack etc.).
Supervision Received: Receives supervision to perform established duties; operates within specific policy guidelines; standard practices or procedures allow employee to proceed independently to perform routine work; work frequently checked while in progress and reviewed upon completion.

Decision Making and Problem Solving: Most problems are routine or predictable in nature may make minor adjustments to work methods or procedures to identify solutions that exist within current work processes procedures or systems.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices terminology methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of standard office procedures practices and equipment.
- Knowledge of pertinent Federal State and local laws codes and regulations.
- Ability to understand interpret and apply laws and regulations to the maintenance of financial records.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel word PowerPoint Access).

- Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire):
Associate degree in Accounting or related field and one (1) year experience; or a High school or General Education Development Diploma (GED) and three (3) years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary work requiring exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Additionally the following physical abilities are required: fingering handling hearing mental acuity repetitive motion speaking talking and visual acuity.
During a State of Emergency and at the discretion of the County Manager county employees may be called in for service. This includes both essential and non-essential personnel.
