Airfreight / Contract Logistics
Location: Tokyo Japan

Position Overview

We are currently supporting two global logistics companies in Japan who are seeking experienced Human Resources professionals to join their teams in Tokyo.

Both organisations are well-established international logistics providers with strong operations in Japan and workforces of more than 200 employees locally. These companies operate across areas such as Airfreight Contract Logistics and supply chain solutions and are known for their strong international networks and professional working environments.

The Human Resources Business Partner will work closely with operational and functional leaders across the organisation to provide strategic HR guidance and hands-on support across the full employee lifecycle. The role requires a strong understanding of Japanese labour regulations employee relations and HR best practices within operational environments.

This role will partner closely with business leaders to support organisational development workforce planning employee engagement and performance management while ensuring alignment with regional and global HR frameworks.

The HRBP will collaborate with regional HR Centres of Excellence (COE) and Shared Service teams while also taking ownership of local HR initiatives and ensuring consistent application of HR policies and processes in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership

Partner with operational leaders within Airfreight or Contract Logistics to provide strategic and operational HR guidance.

Act as a trusted advisor to management on people-related matters including organisational development employee engagement workforce planning and talent development.

Translate global and regional HR strategies into practical initiatives within the Japan organisation.

Support leaders in driving a positive organisational culture and aligning teams with company values and behaviours.

Employee Lifecycle Management

Champion best practices across the entire employee lifecycle including recruitment onboarding development performance management and offboarding.

Support talent acquisition processes in collaboration with internal recruitment teams or external partners.

Ensure a positive employee experience through effective HR programs and employee engagement initiatives.

Support retention strategies and initiatives designed to develop and retain key talent.

Employee Relations and Compliance

Provide guidance to managers on employee relations matters including performance management disciplinary actions grievances and conflict resolution.

Ensure compliance with Japanese labour laws and internal HR policies.

Assist managers in building high-performing teams through effective leadership practices.

Facilitate behavioural and cultural change initiatives across operational teams.

Organisational Development and Change Management

Support organisational transformation initiatives and business change projects.


Required Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Excellent problem-solving ability and sound judgment in handling complex people matters.

Strong organisational and project management skills.

Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced operational environment.

High level of integrity professionalism and discretion.

Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.


Location

This role is based in Tokyo Japan and will support operational teams across the country.
