For more than 120 years Hope Community Services has walked alongside West Australians providing compassionate practical support for people experiencing alcohol and other drug (AOD) challenges mental health concerns and social disadvantage.
Our Pilbara Community Alcohol and Drug Service (PCADS) delivers evidence-based culturally secure AOD support to individuals families and communities across the region. We work in partnership with local stakeholders to reduce harm build capability and strengthen community wellbeing.
About the RoleWe are seeking a Counsellor Educator to join our PCADS team in this role you will deliver therapeutic interventions education and support to people experiencing AOD use and related harms. Youll conduct assessments develop personalised recovery or treatment plans and facilitate both individual and group sessions.
Working within a trauma-informed and culturally secure framework you will empower clients to build insight strengthen coping skills and make positive sustainable changes. You will also contribute to community education health promotion and collaborative engagement with local services.
Whats on Offer$44.58 per hour (SCHADS Level 4) 38 hours per week
$20000 regional allowance per annum
Permanent full-time position based in Newman WA

Youll Need
EssentialDiploma or higher in Counselling Psychology Social Work Community Services or related field
Experience working with people experiencing AOD mental health or complex psychosocial needs
Strong assessment counselling and case management skills
Experience delivering therapeutic or educational group programs
Understanding of co-occurring AOD and mental health concerns
Ability to engage respectfully with Aboriginal clients families and communities
Commitment to trauma-informed culturally secure harm-reduction approaches
Strong communication skills record keeping and digital literacy (including client management systems)
Professional boundaries ethical practice and confidentiality
Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
WA C-class Drivers Licence National Police Clearance (within 3 months)
DesirablePrevious experience in AOD or mental health services
Experience working in remote or regional settings
Familiarity with community education health promotion or outreach approaches
MHFA certification
