THE OPPORTUNITY THAT AWAITS YOU

Were partnering with a global healthtech scaleup with roots in South Africa delivering agentic AI systems into real production healthcare environments in the US. These are greenfield deployments where performance reliability compliance and integration quality directly determine whether AI succeeds or fails.

Were looking for an AI & Prompt Engineering Leadto own the clinical intelligence layer of the platform designing and evaluating LLM agents for medical coding and clinical documentation. Youll curate coding datasetscraft prompt templates and run SME feedback loops with clinicians to ensure outputs are clinically correct auditable and productionready.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines PhDlevel research depth with fullstack engineering capability. If you want to shape how production AI actually works in healthcare not just in theory but in realworld deployments this is worth serious attention.

WHAT YOU WILL BE BUILDING

Production-grade LLM agent runtimes built for scale resilience and secure execution
Platform observability: logging tracing latency analysis usage and cost monitoring
EHR integrations with systems such as OpenEMR Epic and other healthcare platforms
Speech-to-text pipelines supporting clinical and operational workflows
Shadow deployments canary releases rollback strategies and production hardening controls
Secure cloud environments supporting healthcare-grade compliance expectations
Integration architecture connecting AI systems to real-world product workflows
Technical standards delivery priorities and engineering direction for platform growth

OUR REQUIRED EXPERTISE

8 years backend engineering experience (Python strongly preferred)
Proven experience acting as a technical lead or owning architecture decisions
Strong understanding of async runtimes concurrency and distributed systems
Hands-on experience with LLM / agent frameworks in production environments
Strong cloud engineering experience (GCP preferred)
Experience integrating third-party APIs such as EHR or speech-to-text platforms
SRE-style thinking around resilience monitoring incident readiness and scale
Strong stakeholder communication and ability to lead through complexity
Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science Engineering Artificial Intelligence Data Science or a related technical field
