Location: Hybrid role based in Alexandria Virginia with 3 days per week onsite and 2 days working from home.

Note: Must have a bachelors degree in accounting 8 years of progressive hands-on insurance accounting and financial reporting experience strong Excel skills leadership experience and ability to work onsite in Alexandria 3 days per week. CPA and Life & Health Insurance accounting experience across SAP and GAAP are strongly preferred.

Job Description

• Lead monthly and quarterly close activities with a focus on accuracy timeliness and strong financial controls
• Support and oversee insurance accounting and financial reporting across SAP and GAAP
• Prepare review and strengthen regulatory reporting Blue Book reporting and audited financial statements
• Analyze financial results identify trends and variances and provide insights to support decision-making
• Partner closely with finance and cross-functional teams to ensure reporting accuracy and deadline compliance
• Help improve processes reporting workflows and overall efficiency within the accounting function
• Supervise coach and develop accounting staff while helping elevate team performance
• Utilize advanced Excel reporting and support work tied to INFOR General Ledger and Prophix reporting tools
• Assist with special projects reporting enhancements and ongoing accounting initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting required
• 8 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience required
• Strong insurance accounting background required
• Leadership experience supervising coaching and developing staff required
• Advanced Excel skills required including VLOOKUP Pivot Tables and SUMIF
• Strong understanding of financial reporting internal controls and deadline-driven accounting operations
• CPA strongly preferred
• Life & Health Insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
• SAP and GAAP insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Blue Book reporting audited financial statements INFOR General Ledger and Prophix strongly preferred
• Strong communication analytical and problem-solving skills required
