About the Role

The Controller serves as a key financial leader within the organization overseeing core accounting functions and supporting the financial strategy of the district. This role is a member of senior leadership to ensure sound financial practices regulatory compliance and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage financial operations including accounts payable payroll support and cash flow management
  • Oversee invoice processing coding and general ledger journal entries
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting financial reporting and strategic planning
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and support audit processes
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure organizational stability
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff fostering a culture of accountability and growth
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies procedures and state regulations
  • Support oversight and coordination with outsourced Revenue Cycle Management vendors

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required; Bachelors degree in Business Administration Healthcare or related field preferred
  • 35 years of recent accounting experience preferably in a healthcare setting or Critical Access Hospital
  • 4 years of leadership experience including team supervision and project management
  • Strong background in budgeting financial analysis auditing and forecasting
  • Experience working with Revenue Cycle Management vendors preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with healthcare systems such as EPIC is a plus
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and financial best practices
