Job Title: Environmental Manager

Location: Glasgow

You will play a key role in supporting projects to meet environmental standards regulatory requirements and company expectations while promoting a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainable delivery.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support projects in identifying and managing environmental risks associated with construction activities.
  • Ensure environmental controls and mitigation measures are implemented effectively across projects.
  • Provide practical environmental advice and guidance to operational teams and supply chain partners.
  • Environmental Monitoring and Assurance
  • Deliver environmental monitoring activities across assigned Business Units including joint SSERs with HS&E professionals and assurance processes.
  • Identify environmental non-conformities risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure environmental actions are recorded tracked and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Support the effective use of environmental and HS&E monitoring systems. Implementation of
  • Support the consistent implementation of environmental standards and procedures across projects.
  • Ensure environmental requirements within the Business Management System are understood and applied by project teams.
  • Work with HS&E Advisors and operational teams to embed environmental controls into day-to-day activities. Collaboration with HS&E Managers and Project Teams
  • Work closely with HS&E Managers to support environmental performance within each Business Unit.
  • Provide environmental input into project planning delivery and decision-making.
  • Support operational teams in understanding environmental risks and compliance requirements.
  • Support the investigation of environmental incidents and near misses.
  • Assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Promote the sharing of environmental learning across projects and teams. Support the development and review of environmental risk assessments and environmental management plans.
  • Ensure site-specific environmental risks are identified and appropriate controls are implemented.
  • Provide support on complex or high-risk environmental activities where required. Engagement and Culture
  • Promote environmental awareness and good practice across project teams and supply chain partners.
  • Support workforce engagement in environmental initiatives and responsibilities.
  • Encourage behaviours that support environmental protection and sustainable delivery.
  • Deliver Environmental specific training to all levels of the work force Low Carbon Construction Support
  • Support the integration of low-carbon construction principles within project delivery.
  • Work with project teams to identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and support carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with sustainability and carbon specialists to help embed corporate carbon objectives within projects.

About You:

  • Knowledge of environmental management within construction or a related industry
  • Experience working in an environmental role within construction or similar sector.
  • Understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel across multiple Business Units as required.
  • Degree or qualification in Environmental Management or related discipline.
  • Membership of IEMA (or working towards).
  • Experience supporting environmental monitoring and assurance activities.
  • Experience in delivering Environmental training
