Whatyou will be doing:Reports to the center director. Responsible for directing the centers outreach and public relation plans and activities to include promoting and maintaining positive relationships with employers and community partners in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential functions:
- Develop and take the leadership role in the centers outreach and public relations plans and activities. Ensure contacts are established as stipulated in the plan. Proactively maintain these contacts to ensure a positive community and employer relationship.
- Develop and monitor departmental budget control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.
- Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting the business and community relations; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives.
- Review and audit all assigned functions regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services. Prepare related reports.
- Monitor the centers web site to ensure it reflects accurate and updated information about the center.
- Participate in the work force development system. Participate on the local youth council as directed by the center director. Coordinate the gathering of information for participation in these activities.
- Maintain linkages with one-stop career centers; keep one-stops informed and updated on Job Corps; impress on one-stops and outreach admissions/career transition services (OA/CTS) contractors the importance of providing accurate information on Job Corps and the center.
- Responsible for all center media relations/inquiries and follow-up.
- Invite employers one-stop OA/CTS and community individuals or groups to visit and tour the center; coordinate visits.
- Serve as the centers contact for employers or community leaders for questions about the Job Corps program or the center. Primary point of contact for all elected officials.
- Manage membership and meeting of community relations council (CRC). Maintain required documentation of meetings and activities related to the CRC.
- Contact local and distant employers and explain the benefits of hiring Job Corps graduates returning to their area. Identify job placement and work based learning sites.
- Visit work-based training employers regularly to show support and to strengthen their bond with the center.
- Develop and coordinate community service activities and projects as well as activities that will bring the community to the center such as open houses.
- Maintain current information on center contacts and participation in community activities; prepare related reports.
- Complete 100% of all required training as this impacts performance evaluation.
- Provide positive quality customer services to students staff and other center customers.
- Support promote and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
- Participate in student employability programs and activities.
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
- It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education & experience:
Associates degree and two years directly related experience required. Must have knowledge of public relations and working with employers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency also required. Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
