The Role
Join HMR as an Underground Charge Up Operator on King Island and play a critical role in supporting safe efficient and productive underground mining operations.
You will be responsible for the safe handling preparation and firing of explosives in accordance with strict WorkSafe Tasmania regulations ensuring all work is completed with precision compliance and safety as the top priority.
This is a hands-on underground role where accuracy teamwork and strong attention to detail are essential. Youll work closely with experienced mining professionals in a supportive and high-performing environment.

Responsibilities
- Safely handle prepare and fire explosives underground
- Work in accordance with WorkSafe Tasmania regulations and site procedures
- Follow blast plans safety protocols and supervisor instructions
- Assist with general underground mining operations as required
- Participate in toolbox talks training and safety meetings
- Maintain accurate records of charging activities
- Work closely with supervisors and engineers to ensure safe outcomes
Desirable Extras:
- Previous underground Charge Up / explosives handling experience
- Strong understanding of underground mining environments
Qualifications / Requirements
- Shot-firing Permit (Tasmania) required for Charge Up Operators
- Security-Sensitive Dangerous Substances (SSDS) permit or responsible worker under an SSDS permit
- Experience operating a Normet MC605 charge-up unit (or similar underground emulsion charging equipment)
- Compliance with WorkSafe Tasmania and CBOS regulations
- Relevant experience in handling explosives and/or working on controlled sites
- Compliance with all WorkSafe Tasmania and CBOS regulations
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Pass pre-employment medical drug & alcohol screening
- Police clearance within 6 months
