Job Summary

A high-attaining academy in Wolverhampton is seeking a meticulous and proactive Science Technician to join their thriving Science Department. This is a vital operational role providing the high-level technical support required for rigorous practical investigations across KS3 KS4 and A-Level.

  • Start Date: ASAP (Immediate start preferred)

  • Contract: Full-time Permanent

  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday (08:30 16:30)

  • Term Structure: Term-Time Only 1 week (40 weeks total)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up apparatus chemicals and equipment for practical science lessons across Biology Chemistry and Physics.

  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment ensuring all health and safety protocols (CLEAPSS) are strictly followed.

  • Manage chemical stock levels including the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.

  • Support teaching staff during practical demonstrations to ensure technical precision and student safety.

  • Routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure technical mastery of the departments resources.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous School Experience: It is essential that you have worked as a Science Technician in a UK school or college laboratory setting.

  • Technical Expertise: A degree or relevant qualification in a scientific discipline (specialism in Biology or Chemistry is highly desirable).

  • Right to Work: You must possess the Right to Work in the UK. Please note that the school cannot provide sponsorship for this role.

  • Professional Standard: A meticulous approach to data integrity safety and departmental organisation.
