Full-time Contract Onsite
$18.60 per hour 40 hrs/week
Start date: May 4 2026 for 16 weeks
This position is thanks to support from Employment and Social Development Canada - Canada Summer Jobs program. Participants will also be encouraged to complete a questionnaire to report on their experience with the Canada Summer Jobs program. As per requirements of this grant the successful candidate must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Be either Canadian Permanent Resident or Refugee. International students and those who are here in Canada on a work youth or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
- Have a valid SIN.
- Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

What will you be doing as the Recreational Programs Coordinator (Assistant)
The Recreational Programs Coordinator (Assistant) will support the development coordination and delivery of Pride Month recreational cultural and community programs. This role assists with event preparation artist and community partner coordination accessibility planning scheduling onsite support and administrative tasks related to Pride Torontos festival programming. The Assistant helps ensure programs run smoothly are inclusive and meet Pride Torontos standards of excellence.
Based on the nature of this role the Recreational Programs Coordinator (Assistant) may need to work weekends and evenings outside of regular work hours to support events planned throughout May and June.
All Pride Toronto Summer Students must be available to work Pride Festival Weekend (June 25-28). Pride Festival Weekend is full of performances art and parades celebrating the 2SLGBTQI communities. No matter their role all members of the Pride Toronto team support the Pride Festival through various operational and programming tasks that ensure the events are safe fun and memorable.
Other responsibilities include:
Program & Event Coordination
- Assist in developing and coordinating recreational and cultural programming for Pride Month and Pride 365 initiatives.
- Support the scheduling of workshops performances community activities and accessible recreational events.
- Liaise with artists facilitators performers and community partners to confirm participation logistics and program needs.
- Prepare program materials signage schedules and activity guides.
Onsite Program Support
- Provide onsite support at stages event zones and recreational activity areas ensuring smooth program execution.
- Assist with participant check-in ushering audience support and artist/stage coordination.
- Help set up and tear down program spaces including activity zones seating areas and accessibility features (ramps designated viewing pods etc.).
- Ensure activities are safe inclusive and welcoming for all participants.
Accessibility & Inclusion
- Support accessibility planning including ASL coordination accessible seating mobility considerations and inclusive program design.
- Assist in implementing Pride Torontos accessibility standards and DEI commitments throughout all programming.
Administrative & Documentation Support
- Maintain program schedules spreadsheets and digital files.
- Assist with data entry contact lists volunteer coordination and documentation of program activities.
- Support the preparation of reports program summaries and materials required for grants and sponsorship partners.
- Help track program attendance and participant feedback to support evaluation efforts.
Community Engagement
- Engage respectfully and professionally with community members artists volunteers and partners.
- Support community outreach to ensure programming is reflective of and accessible to Torontos diverse 2SLGBTQ communities.
What are we looking for
Qualifications and skills required of the role.
- Youth between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Minimum one year of customer service experience
- Highly organized and experienced with MS Office G-Suite platform and other online tools
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to environmental sustainability
- Knowledge and understanding of the 2SLGBTQI community
- Demonstrated administrative background
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- This position requires you to work from our office Mondays to Fridays between 9:00am-5:00pm.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and events (lieu time provided to be provided for hours worked)
- Ability to perform physical tasks including occasional heavy lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required to support on-site event production needs. The ideal candidate is hands-on and adaptable willing to assist with logistical tasks to ensure seamless event execution
