Job Summary
The UNC Upward Bound Program is a Federal TRiO Program funded to help Scholars build the skills and motivation necessary to pursue and succeed in college and attain a Bachelors Degree. Each summer the program offers Scholars a comprehensive 6-week academy that provides academic enrichment professional development and personal growth opportunities. Upward Bound Scholars engage in Math Science English Spanish and History courses. Academic Instructors Academic Instructors are responsible for teaching Upward Bounds rising sophomores and rising juniors from Chatham Durham and Lee counties on special topics in select core classes. These classes include Math English (Rhetoric and Composition) Science History and Spanish. This allows Academic Instructors to offer Scholars a contextualized exploration into the subject area they are studying while teaching the skills necessary for future high school course Instructors will work closely with the Upward Bound Academic Advisor and Assistant Director to determine best practices and develop curriculum designed to meet Scholars needs. Academic Instructors join a team of CHEOP /Upward Bound staff including the College Prep Coach and Wellness Coach who work collaboratively to ensure the success of the Summer Academy. The Summer Program will run from June 15 2026 to July 17 2026 .
