Position Overview: The Special Education Paraeducatorwill work collaboratively with certified special education teachers to support the academic behavioral and social development of students in grades 6 - 12. The individual may provide support with one-on-one and small group instruction implement individualized behavior plans and assist in the supervision and guidance of students throughout the school day.

Major Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of certified special education teachers and BCBA.
• Support students in developing independent learning skills and self-management strategies.
• Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Monitor student behavior and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress and needs.
• Collaborate effectively with teachers therapists and other school staff to support the overall development and progress of students.

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have taken and passed the ParaPro test orhave 2 years full time post-secondary education (minimum 60credits) or Associates Degree or higher
• Preference will be given to candidates pursuing or interested in becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) but all individuals passionate about working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges are encouraged to apply.
• Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
• Previous experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.

• Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing bending kneeling and emergency physical management as required.
