Reentry & Recovery Participant Advisor

Hourly Rate-$15.00/hour


Note: Housing is INCLUDED. This is a third shift position with free on-site accommodations. It is a 7-day a week role with OT paid. Fully benefited. Please reach out to with any questions.


Purpose: The participant advisor is a key staff member who physically resides at the assigned non-congregate shelter and maintains an overnight presence to support program participants. The incumbent serves as a mentor and provides assistance to staff and program participants as needed to ensure a safe and stable environment.

Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

Reside in the non-congregate shelter facility and:

o Be physically present daily from 10pm-6am

o Refrain from use of all drugs and alcohol and pass all random drug screenings

o Abide by all house rules

o Attend and assist with the monthly house meal at the location supervised

o Serve as a mentor welcoming new participants and establishing and maintaining appropriate relationships with all program participants

Ensure program participants remain in compliance with all house/program rules.

Complete and record shelter curfew checks at 10:00 pm.

Arm doors nightly and allow entrance for those with curfew exceptions after 10pm.

Complete breathalyzer tests for all program participants nightly at time of curfew.

As directed by program management complete drug screens for participants and report back results.

Notify program managers of failed breathalyzer or drug screen curfew non-compliance or participant rule-breach immediately and follow directives given on case-by-case basis.

In case of an emergency notify the appropriate authorities and department staff.

Follow appropriate procedures including calling facilities security or supervisor on call as indicated

Complete incident reports and send to appropriate team members

Serve as a key point-of-contact between program participants and other program staff including contact pertaining to house-meal and group attendance shared supplies for the house messages to participants and delivery of paperwork for staff to/from houses.

Collaborate with program staff regarding chore assignments and inspections.

Be responsive to incoming calls texts or emails from your supervisor. Check emails daily and respond the same day.

Communicate all relevant information from shift to R&R manager by end of each shift.

Train a lead-participant within the program to cover duties in your absence

Complete any and all assigned trainings to help you excel in your position.

Preserve confidentiality of all participants staff and volunteers

Maintain a commitment to personal recovery participant empowerment and the ability to support participants.

Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Knowledge Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:

Ability to read and interpret procedures to make conclusions and decisions.

Knowledge of reentry and recovery pathways

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Ability to practice tact courtesy and discretion.

Must be capable of handling unexpected situations or conflict with tact and professionalism.

Familiarity with Tlingit Haida and Tsimshian cultures.

Minimum Qualifications (education experience skills):

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Ability to practice courtesy and discretion.

Must be capable of handling unexpected situations or conflict with tact and professionalism.

CPR/First Aide NARCAN training either before hire date or within 1 month.

Ability to meet criminal background check clearance requirements

Ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings

Preferred Qualifications (education experience skills):

Prior experience in recovery reentry housing or peer-support environments

Experience working in structured or compliance-based programs

The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary requiring routine walking standing bending and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs
