Job Summary

Location: Perth-based role with travel to site every second week
Roster: 5:2 4:3
Type: Permanent Full-time

We are seeking a proactive and experienced professional to drive a strong culture of health safety and wellbeing across the organisation by reducing injury risks and implementing preventative strategies. This role leads strategic health promotion and injury prevention initiatives delivers training and coaching develops practical resources and works closely with leaders to embed safe work practices into everyday operations.

Responsible for injury management and return-to-work coordination (approximately 20% of the role) the primary focus of the position is prevention enhancing physical and psychological wellbeing reducing workplace risk and strengthening workforce resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Injury Management and Workers Compensation (Primary Focus 50-60%)

  • Coordinate and manage all workplace injuries from initial notification through to claim closure.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for injured workers supervisors insurers and treating practitioners.
  • Manage workers compensation claims in line with WA legislation ensuring timely lodgement communication and progression.
  • Develop implement and monitor return-to-work plans in consultation with treating doctors site medics and leaders.
  • Liaise directly with company doctors physiotherapists and rehabilitation providers to drive appropriate treatment and recovery outcomes.
  • Provide clear guidance to leaders on suitable duties and ensure meaningful safe return-to-work options are implemented.
  • Monitor claim performance costs and trends identifying opportunities for improvement.

On-site Coordination and Stakeholder engagement

  • Work closely with onsite medics supervisors and management to ensure consistent injury management practices and early intervention.
  • Liaise with contractor companies and their injury management coordinators to ensure alignment with FENIX standards.
  • Support supervisors and superintendents in managing injured workers on shift and in real-time.
  • Attend site regularly and as required to engage directly with workers and leaders.

Injury Management & Leadership Advisor

  • Coach and support leaders in injury prevention early reporting claims management and return-to-work processes.
  • Build leadership accountability for worker wellbeing recovery outcomes and compliance obligations.
  • Manage workplace injuries end-to-end providing practical support to employees and leaders.
  • Maintain accurate injury claims and return-to-work records in line with legislative and company requirements.
  • Deliver regular reporting on injury trends claim progress and return-to-work performance identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with medical providers site leaders and employees to achieve safe and sustainable outcomes.
  • Facilitate workforce engagement initiatives training and awareness campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of WA workers compensation and return-to-work legislation.
  • Practical solutions-focused approach with proven ability to influence leaders and drive positive outcomes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in workplace injury management within mining resources or heavy industry environments.
  • Strong knowledge of WA workers compensation and return-to-work legislation.
  • Skilled in workforce engagement training facilitation and campaign delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coach and influence leaders and employees.
  • Experience partnering with medical providers operational teams and frontline leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build accountability and drive positive safety outcomes.
  • Practical solutions-focused approach to injury prevention and case management.

    Qualifications :

    • WA-approved Return to Work Coordinator training (or willingness to complete).
    • Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety Personal Injury Management or similar (desirable).
    • Mental Health First Aid (desirable).
    • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Physiotherapy Exercise Physiology Occupational Therapy or similar) (highly regarded)
