Economic Development Summer Student (Term, Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager of Economic Development the Economic Development Summer Student will assist in various administrative tasks to support the Economic Development team and gain insight into the functions and responsibilities of Westbank First Nations Economic Development Department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 or in a post-secondary program
- Educational Interest include Economic Development Business Administration or related field
- Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered an asset
- Equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered
REQUIREMENTS
- Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
- Valid BC Drivers License and Acceptable Drivers Abstract
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
- Assist in research and data collection related to economic development projects and initiatives
- Support the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote Indigenous businesses and cultural products
- Assist in organizing and participating in community events workshops and meetings related to economic development
- Provide administrative support including filing data entry and documentation of project activities
- Assist with outreach efforts to potential partners stakeholders and funding agencies
- Assist with the development of surveys and interviews to gather feedback from stakeholders on economic development needs and priorities
- Collaborate with team members to develop reports presentations and communication materials for internal and external stakeholders
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies standards and procedures and as directed by the Manager of Economic Development
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of Westbank First Nations Community & Services
- Basic understanding of utilizing AI tools and applications to enhance administrative tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain confidentiality of records documents and information
- Collaborative team player with strong judgment skills
- Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
- Passion for working with people promoting economic development and contributing to the success of WFN
The Median hourly wage for this position is $23.00
This is a term position set to end on August 31 2026
